Taking out a Jag XF & XK, both 5litre, NOT the R unfortunately. Similar performance I understand and the XK is a bit more cash. However, the XF is a bit "Old man" don't you think?

One of the managers at work who's just turned 60 has an XF-R......
For the last 10 years he's had a series of XK-Rs.....

make of that what you will.

One of the chaps at my work is 34 and has an XF. It is a lovely car and I'm keeping an eye on SV8/XFR prices.

I'd love an XK of any flavour.

The other half's boss has an XKR, lovely thing, I would definitely consider it when replacing the Stang.

XF's in any flavour do nothing for me

the last jag saloons i like were the mk1 xj's. i am sure they are very competent and comfortable cars, but the lesser models look a bit too much like a vauxhall insignia. you don't need 4 doors, so go for the xk.

i would have thought if your budget covers a new jag, then there are plenty of tasty nearly new options we could tempt you with!

Is it just me or do XKs seem to hold their value a lot better here than they do in the UK?

I've not seen many for sale but the few that do crop up on Dubizzle seem to command strong money (at least the asking price).

everything seems to hold value here imo. however, the amount of toys you get here and main dealer service history has to be weighed against local mechanical sympathy.

first gen porsche 997's are touching 20k back home, if they were the same here i would not still be getting stick for not having a car!

We did a back to back comparison of the two R models in evo a few months back. The XK was fun, but felt a lot more like a muscle car than a finely resolved European coupe. XF would have been my choice for the school run except that the M5 just does everything better.

Also a small part of me would have looked at those circular vents unfurling out of the dash every morning, and wondering how soon it would be before the dealer would have to dismantle the entire dash out of warranty to replace the motor when they break.

Then again, I like toggle switches and airbag-less Momo wheels.

Agree with above - having driven both, the XK is the more sporting looking car (and looks absolutely fantastic in strong metallic colours) but the XF is more of a driver's car, more agile in feel.

There is a chap who buys almost all new model low km XKs and XKRs immediately and then trades them from his house in the Ranches. He normally has two or three on the go.

I was due to look at a 2007 XK vert which was up at 125k about six months ago, arranged a viewing for the time the chap finished work and everything. He called me back saying that this other chap had turned up during his lunch break and was paying cash that evening.

It then sat on Dubizzle at AED165k for about three months.

Well, I had both for an hour each. I took the XK back ofter 10 minutes....it wasn't to my liking. It was too small, too hard a ride and just an uncomfortable place to be. Echo the above with regards to the XF, it looks nice in the showroom but I wouldn't give one a second glance on the road, and I'd be bored with it after 10 minutes. However I must admit it was bloody quich, and eager to step out when pulling away. That really surprised me.
I then took a stroll to the Chrysler garage to ask about the 2012 SRT8 (300c). They didn't have a clue about anything other than they expect the first delivery in late Feb. Plus the huge yellow-head on the girls face made me feel ill, so I left.
Then went to the GMC garage and fell in love with the Denali. 2011 model with all the toys can be had for 200k. However, just up the road was the Cadillac garage, so I enquired about the CTSV. Good god that thing sounds like a monster and was very comfy if not a tad small. 2011 model (which is identical apart from different coloured lights) can be had for 265k.

So, the search is narrowed, but not complete!

I watched Top Gear USA review the CTS-V last week.... what a piece of kit that is.
I even liked the interior, though I'm not totally certain about the look of the rear.

in the US it's available in estate form and they were calling it an M5 beater, gotta be worth a test drive!

Honestly, I'm a nightmare!
The CTSV is a cracking car. Comfy and with a nice interior. The outside looks a bit cobbled together, but I could live with that. owever, the Denali is nice, and is 70k cheaper!

Apples and oranges?

What about a Tahoe if you are looking at SUVs?
