Arrogance, ignorance and selfishness yet again from Arabs
Discussion
What is up with these people. I consider myself well traveled and in the main have always met considerate and polite people from many cultures, countries and races.
Arabs? no! Selfish, arrogant, ignorant and often downright nasty people. I know I'm making a broad statement here but in the whole, I'll happily stand by it.
Latest example - next door have a party for their kids, next thing you know it sounds like they've set up Metallica's stage sound system up next door and have it turned to eleven. Now, I'm the last to complain about a bit of music for a party but why have it so damn loud when it obviously impacts everyone else close by and a third of the volume would still be pumping. All the villas around us, ours included, have enjoyed having the doors and windows open to enjoy the weather. Now I can see that all that were open are now closed because of the noise.
Then we go out to MoE to do the shop and I get back to two cars parked in our car port! WTF!!! I would never in a million years dream of parking in someone else's driveway. I was going to say 'without asking first' but I wouldn't even dream of doing that especially when 10 yards up the road they can park fine.
So, my car is now on the road full of shopping and they courteously take 20 mins to get off their arses to come and move them. All smiley, 'didn't think you'd mind habibi' - why the fk would I not mind you !

Well Traveled? Have you been to Jordan? Syria? Lebanon? Oman, Iraq? Some of the nicest people in the world. Arabs? no! Selfish, arrogant, ignorant and often downright nasty people. I know I'm making a broad statement here but in the whole, I'll happily stand by it.
And guess what? They're Arabs.

Yes - all except Syria - and while there are nice people, they are still arrogant and selfish. They think of no-one except themselves. The world revolves around them as far as their concerned.
You think I'm the only person that thinks this? Or the only person that says it out loud?
There's a saying here, 'The larger the smile, the larger the knife'. You don't hear that elsewhere.
Everywhere else I've done business in the world there seems to be a grown up approach where there can still be hard negotiation but a deal is still done on fairness with the parties getting something constructive out of the deal - dealing with Arabs is a lesson in how to watch your back, how to punch below the belt and how to try and completely fk the other guy over...
...and that's just to get to the contract, then all the rules change again.
Don't get me wrong - the Middle East has its merits but it isn't the people for the most part.

Crikey, you seem to have a real chip on your shoulder.
Whilst I agree that many of the newer generation GCC nationals can be a bit rude at times, you cannot judge the whole Arab race based on their behaviour surely?
As an Anglo Arab myself your comments are a tad offensive.

I guess Asterix is having his 'Falling Down' day, but he does speak some truth.
Some of the (business) behaviour I've seen in the Middle East is baffling at best, absolutely nothing is thought through.
GCC Public Sector bodies make the UK Public Sector look like the pinnacle of efficiency.
But hey, they pay good.

I'm sorry if my observation offends. As I said it is a broad sweeping statement and there are exceptions to the rule.
I'm only basing my observations on my experience - which is many visits to the ME since 1977 and having lived here since 2003. I've found that all the issues I've come across here haven't been Sub Continent, haven't been South East Asian, haven't been European and its only by elimination and experience that I've come to my conclusion.
I'm sorry if that bites and I'll be the first to retract any of what I've said when I'm proved otherwise.
Chip on my shoulder? Hardly. I'll take any man on their merits as I hope they would with me. But I'll speak my mind.

Business can be baffling but it is just a game so you account for it in margin - the fools who seek to bend you over at the last minute should really realise that you've been slowly bending them over for weeks. So long as they feel that they have 'won' who cares. I'm happy to look gutted as we sign just to laugh all my way home. Just a game. The thing to note about the public sector is that there is no search for efficiency - it isn't paid for out of the public purse so who gives a hoop? The burgeoning public sector in the ME is just a slight tax on the rulers - a neccessary cost to keep the proles happy.
Sounds like you have sh/t neighbours, Asterix. And also that you've had a lot of bad experiences generally. Other than very isolated incidents, I can't say that I have, other than the usual third world mentality that you get in much of the rest of the world.
The state of society in the UK is one primary reason I'm in the UAE, so I don't think we Brits are free from arrogance, ignorance and selfishness.

I'd say a majority of the locals I've met and deal with are a PITA, and agree 100% with James. This majority have a belief that they are simply above everyone else and demand respect...it's pure arrogance. Bo!!ocks to that. I guess when you have so many cheap labourers here who are very submissive, it's enivitable. Haivng said that, my close colleagues I would class as good friends, who are generally very nice people.
Going to change my comment, and I do apologies for tarring every Arab with the same brush. Perhaps the reason (and it's bleedin' obvious) I've encountered more issues of rudeness and arrogance with Arabs is that I live in a place where there are lots of them.
If I lived in China and I had the same issues, chances are it would be because I'm surrounded by Chinese, same in the UK etc...
