Just dropped the Porsche off at ARM for a service. Bloody miles from anywhere as you know - but, I can see the Burj Khalifa as clear as anything.

So nice to have some clear, fresh air for a change.

Was also out on a mate's boat on Sunday for a spot of fishing and water skiing - that was lovely too. As was Barasti after work yesterday.

For the Middle East newbies - make the most of it because before you know it, it is 40 degrees and climbing again.

Anyone else get genuinely excited by that water falling from the sky?

I walked the dogs early Sunday morning and it was glorious.

Yep, I actually got up at 5am, got dressed, opened the front door and stood on the porch watching as the rain lashed the street....

Thankfully I'd put the roof on the car the night before otherwise I'd have a host of new electrical problems 3 days after sorting the old ones lol

Yep... bit the bullet and bought a new fusebox... sorted all the issues I had out in one go!

i have been looking forward to winter to be able to get out and do stuff. now that it is here i have one day off between now and the end of november, and i won't be here for 1/3 of december!

i am yet to see any rain though, and would prefer the midday temp to last longer into the evening.

I like the hot weather - I just don't like the fecking hot weather that we get in the summer. Went into the desert yesterday to show some newbies Big Red and the weather was just spot on - as for last night's sunset..stunning.

The LR2 coped admirably once I got the hang of it and wizzed up and over like nobody's business, but why I sold the Wrongler earlier this week is now a mystery to me. Down to two cars but clearly not for long!

Anyone got an FJ Cruiser? They seemed unstoppable.

I quite liked driving the FJ Cruiser one of the guys at work had - like a life-size Tonka toy.

Although comedy visibility with windows modelled on letter box slots.

I'd have a prado over an fj purely because of the visibility, its a joke.

Friends Prado is awesome in the desert, great residuals as well.

I think the Prado and FJ use the same running gear.

definitely the same block, not sure if they have the same diff arrangements.

You can hose the inside of an FJ i think which is a nice party trick

a girl at work has an FJ. i agree it is like an oversized tonka toy and certainly seems to have the offroad credentials to boot. feels less nimble than a landrover, but also more solid.

what surprises me about them though is that they are like an inverse tardis. bloody huge but with little room inside. the lower dash rail does a nice job of annoying my shins, and there's very little legroom at all in the back.

still looking for somewhere to hire a 4x4 for the day with offroad insurance.

ps- last night's sunset was great [i was floating in the sea as it happened] and with the haze gone i can see all the way to sports city/motordrome from my balcony.

I'd forgotten about this - I checked one out at Toyota when I arrived and remember that the interior is laughable.

The only issues I had with the lady-landy was that the ground clearance is a little low (just over eight inches compared to 9.5 for the FJ) and mine runs on comical 19" wheels with fairly low profile tyres so I was reluctant to drop too low.

Anyone know where I might be able to pick up some cheap second hand 16/17s to allow for better deflation?

Have checked dubiz but nowt on offer.

Get to Sharjah and buy some cheap 'chrome' beauties.

On a serious note try Saluki or Robbies maybe
