Currently the news release is that 5-7 for Private sector, 5-8 for Public. There's a bit of uproar in the office, as all the locals think they have it wrong, as the 5th is a day of fasting, NOT the start of the EID celebrations.

I'll keep ya posted!

Private sector is Sat, Sun, Mon.

Public have Tuesday as well

Eid starts on Sun but they have jipped us out of a day as usual by starting the holidays on Sat.

Amazing - the only thing the locals do enthusiastically is complain about how many days they have to do nothing.

So company policy gives you more than the Ministry of Labour states is required (win) but then you work 4 of them anyways (fail)

WTF?!

project i'm working on is in danger of going tits up if i'm not here, and the guys working for me are on rotation so don't get any holidays. i don't mind as i'll get them back in lieu and will use them over xmas.

ETA - the policy is that if a holiday falls on the weekend, we get the day off on the thursday or sunday. they did the same last eid, and we get the national day holiday on the sunday [so the workforce can sober up after 7's!].

I'm surprised how few of your companies don't toe the official line, they could have you all back in the office on Tuesday like me! grumpy

I'm in exactly the same position - company graciously announces Sunday to Tuesday and I might grab one day out of that..including the weekend. Rubbish. I am going to the Rugby Long Lunch on the Thursday though so at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

My company graciously gives all Western expats no days off during Eid, Ramadan etc.

All Other Nationals and Locals however get 5th - 12th off.

...at least the office is quiet...irked

That's unlucky

5th to 8th for us.

However, what's this I hear about Friday night in Dubai being dry?, I need some real beer. A lot of it. And I'm coming to Dubai on Friday to get it. Will I be disappointed?

We've all been told that Friday night is dry here in DXB

As a company, all staff are treated equal here, we all get Sunday and Monday off, back in on Tuesday.

Oh

Haven't seen an announcement, heard rumour and was hoping it was unsubstantiated. Ah well, I'm there for 5 days so plenty of time to catch up.

If I'm going to find a positive out of it, at least I won't spend most of Saturday in the foetal position nursing a debilitating hangover.

Is anything happening at the autodrome on Saturday?, since there is a good chance I will be compos mentos, I might get taxi over there, not been yet.

do you get more annual leave to compensate? if not, that sucks.

PS - roland, there's a full day's racing on both friday and saturday.
