Subject: New UAE Traffic Fine for Driving on Using a Cellphone - IMPORTANT!!!

Dear All, FYI

In the “Emirates Today” newspaper was mentioned that the fine of phone usage by hand while driving will be adjusted to become as follow:

- The fine value will be 1,200 AED instead of 200 AED.

- 16 driving points will be deducted from the total 24 points.

- The car will be detained for 30 days.

This new regulation will be effective within few days.

I guess this is a reaction to the accident rate in Abu Dhabi dropping by 40% when there was the BlackBerry outage last week.

Fair play.
