I'm a 30 year old Electrical Technician in the oil and gas industry looking to make the jump abroad. Qualified to HNC level with many industry specific certs. No dependants. Currently in gainful employment onshore in the UK, but I feel that now is the time to take a step forward in terms of career and earning potential. Are there any PH'ers in the Middle East in recruitment or engineering looking to fill such a position? CV and references available by request.

I know that Tatweer in Bahrain are recruiting at the moment. A quick google search will turn up the correct web address.

Correct, Tatweer is on a huge recruitment drive, mainly Reservoir/Petroleum Engineers and Geologists.

As a service company we are not really in a position to hire Elec Techs; depending on experience with things like MWD/LWD, Logging tools or rigs you might get some interest.

You might not be looking at a decent ex-pat package as there are a wealth of techs from India/Philippines competing for the same jobs. Not unless you have serious experience in the oilfield and are up to the level of Electrical manager of a refinery or similar. High level jobs only will be expensive ex-pats.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look into Tatweer. It seems like at my level though I may be better off looking at offshore opportunities closer to home.

When you say make the jump abroad, do you mean to work and live, or just work? All of our Techs and Operators rotate so you'd have to either live in the UK or somewhere like Thailand. Most of our guys manage to stay out of the UK no problem.
