I've got a job that needs a bit of running around and I need to cost in expenses for mileage, or rather kilometerage.

The current UK rates are 25p a mile which works out around 1 AED per kilometer. Obviously UK fuel costs are loads more.

What is reasonable for here?

risk of accident with an uninsured vehicle is much higher here though!

i'd say pay 5dhs, based on that being the cost of food delivery, and charge the client 10, as i imagine your services cost more than a pizza!

We get 50 fils per km. We need to do over 50kms in a journey before it kicks in but it always works well unless you're doing small trips which I personally dont.

Our policy is ment to cover what your costs should be for fuel, servicing and wear and tear for work use.

I've always found it very fair.

Very unscientifically, I did a back of a fag packet comparison of UK costs versus UAE a long time ago, and if I included increased wear and tear costs in the heat (roughly one km in the UAE = one mile in the UK was my assumption although I think that might be a bit generous to the UAE), increased insurance vs the UK as we seem to subsidise all the cretins in blacked out Landcruisers, assuming roughly the same depreciation (although back then I think UAE depreciation was slightly more than UK), and much cheaper fuel costs, it ended up working out approx the same on a per mile basis.

Might be complete nonsense, though...

I think I'll see what AED 1 per KM works out like and if it looks a bit much, I'm tallying up after the job is complete, I'll revise it to 75 fils per km and split the difference.

I have an expenses float and it certainly won't exceed it but its more a case of not looking greedy.
