Went to the car today (Nissan Sunny hire car - what a beast) and battery is flat after 5 days in the car park.

The events that have unfolded since via a series of phonecalls have been a textbook example of the general fkwittery you come to expect in the Middle East. Why is nothing simple here?

If someone else tells me to 'do the needful' I'm going to rip their head off.

The AA equivalent here won't come out to look unless I give the chassis number, build date, and my inside leg measurement.

In the next phonecall I make I will ask for the complete opposite of what I want done, then with any luck, things will be done right.

My driver is on the way here now apparently with my requested jump leads, but knowing this lot, he might arrive with a tin of tuna and some marigolds.

Amazingly he came, and brought the right thing - and my car is back to its' normal state of shoddyness.

something's not right. you say he came and brought the right thing, and my colleague just told me he went home at lunch to meet the DU guys at 12pm and they were already there waiting for him.

something is definitely amiss.

To be fair - DU are pretty good compared to, well, anything else - but its still not really saying much.

As much as it pains me to say it I agree.

Technician has been on time (twice) and I have upgraded my channels twice in last few months (Jazeera sports and AD sports), both times quoted up to 24 hours for channels to show, both times channels showing before I have put the phone down

Same here. Yesterday after 5 months of beating my head against a wall, the big cheese from a well known bank called me to apologise for their gross incompetence and refunded the money they had stolen from me.

Must be something in the air.

Although this was after I had gone to the newspapers in desperation

Du like to cut me off AFTER I have paid the bill. Adding Misery to Life was the phrase I used when talking to their "customer services".

As much as it pains me to say this, but I am led to believe that 'Needful' is in fact now in the Collins English Dictionary.I has this chat over dinner the other night.

I had this maybe 6 months back.

Called Porsche Assist.

They sent dude with flatbed truck in 45 minutes.

He had porti jump start thing.

Connected to battery. Started first time.

I said thanks, off he went.

I stood around thinking "did that just all go smoothly? my blood pressure is normal. I am not sweating/angry. Strange...."
