My understanding was yes but nobody cares enough to punish anyone.

I do it all the time

The roads are based on our system, the courts based on the French.

Yeah, I'm the same and don't even think twice about it, although I ALWAYS have plan B and usually C just in case. Hwever the other day the Fuzz were in lane 4 of the Emirates road soing about 100. I caught them up but turned off before I had to pass them, so was wondering if it would have been ok to keep on going in lane 2 and undertake them.

At a 120 limit point?

I have done that under those circumstances and no problems, on SZ, I was probably actually exceeding 100 (in a 100 limit part)

Yep, 120 down there. Cool, so it seems as long as there a bit of space etc, no-one's too bothered!

I think, and don't quote me on this (or scream in horror at the use of the term...), they use a bit of common sense yikes

If everyone is driving along and one lane slows a little then you are OK to pass on the right.

If you hurtle up the back-end of someone in the fast lane and they don't immediately move out of the way despite your frantic light-flashing, thus causing you to veer accross 3 lanes of traffic and back to to get in front of them...you are asking for a ticket.

I was scooting up the highway one morning to AUH doing around 180-200 leptons along with a very spritely Boxter when I came up behind a pensioner doing 140. I slowed and waited patiently for him to wake up and move over. The guy on the 'Coxster' went.....up the tradesman's entrance.

Cue the Grey Nissan Altima that had been joining in for the past 5Km to come screaming past, now with the added feature of blue/red strobes in the front lights, pulling over the Porka. I guess he got a ticket. There was an audible squeek from my bottom as my hoop tightened and I glided past at 140 on the nose.

I think, as long as you are not dangerously swerving between lanes you should be OK.

This and I would add: not 2" from the rear bumper of the car in front of you.
