Morning, great start to the week, Mrs tiger had a good go at pulling the front of the Stang off this morning with her Kia pulling out of her space which is next to mine.

Can you get accident reports at Barsha or do we have to traipse down to Bur Dubai?

Cheers, I was remarkably calm at the time, still half asleep, she was crying her eyes out, the Kia is a mess.

The way today has gone I am getting more angry about life in general, I feel like the character below if anyone has seen it!

Only upshot is there was some minor damage to the other side of the bumper that I can repair at her insurers expense.

Every cloud.....

Mate, Dubai does that to you every now and then. I have a Falling Down day once every 6 weeks.

When the champagne isn't quite chilled enough, or the pool boy hasn't been, or the maid has turned your undies red, or the chai-wallah forgot to but 2 teaspoons of sugar in instead of 1 - we know Chilli, it’s a tough life wink

Always Jebel Ali police station for me - such a fker to get to that nobody else bothers. Probably no further from you than the Bur Dubai station nr TC roundabout .

p.s Dubs is killing me with stress at the mo - I haven't bought anything in the past six months that some retard hasn't stopped me enjoying to the full. House AC still fricking broken - check! New TV missing free 3d blueray player for 6 weeks and counting - check! Sofas delivered faulty - check! Replacement sofas delivered but additional table and chairs lost in the system for 3 weeks and counting - check! Being such a tt to get things done suits me, but makes me unhappy!!!

It's a bind mate, I must admit.

Actually, just noticed a phone sized dent and scrape on the hire car. great. A trip to the police station for a report otherwise my card will be raped...again.

turn off to the FZ by dubai aluminium.

bear left when the road forks and you'll go into the FZ area with the cricket pitch to your left and HSBC to your right.

the police are then just a little further on the right.

__________

i always fk that junction up though and end up by the HGV entrance, so you can always go into the free zone via gate 4. turn right at the first roundabout, and follow the road round to the left.

turn right again at the second roundabout and the cop shop is on the left hand side.

if you go past HSBC you've gone too far.

i never reported the taxi i reversed into, just got the fine and creased the back bumper. i also crunched the front spoiler on a high kerb in a car park and someone scraped a trolled down the side outside waitrose.

hertz didn't notice a thing, though i did attempt to t-cut the scrape out and got it nice and dusty before handing it back smile

Ha! I'll see your stress and raise you a heart attack. Yesterday took the biscuit for me. Was applying for residency for my 3 kids at Fujairah Immigration yesterday. Usual story - they always forget to tell you one important document to bring, but you kind of expect that and prepare yourself accordingly. No, what really got my blood pressure going was the Captain (or whatever inflated title he had) refusing to sign the application for the kids' residency.

What?!

Apparently my (newly formed) company doesn't employ enough people and I therefore cannot sponsor dependants. He just made the rule up on the spot. In one moment of powertripping he had essentially condemned our 10 year UAE residency to come to an end by forcing me to send my kids back home. And he clearly couldn't believe I was British. Insisted on knowing what my "real" nationality was. Unfrickingbelievable.

We appear to have got it sorted this morning with the PRO calling in various favours with his mates at Immigration, but it's so unnecessary. I might still have to go back for an "interview".

Sorry, dxbtiger, for hijacking your thread.

You might find it easier to chill out at home and call the cops over at a time that suits you, since both your and her car are at the same place and it should be fairly clear how the accident happened. Just don't tell them it happened days ago.

Harris, that is terrible, hope you get it sorted.

You decided to stay then? (assuming residency gets done)

Yeah, I have suggested that they may come out if she calls them. Will give it a whirl once we are home, if not will pop to JA

Yep, I do actually love living here, despite the life changing random bureaucratic decisions. Plus the school year has already started. But the plan is to move back by July/Aug providing we get places for next September, so all options remain open. However the legislative environment is just too fragile for me to trust running my own firm out here. You would have thought they'd sorted this all out by now.

that's crazy. sometimes, the strange way of doing business here amuses me, but i do agree in that i think they'd have done away with allowing people to abitrarily put obstacles in the way of businesses being set up here.

what do you do harris, purely out of interest?

Oh, haha, that's a blast from the past. I've since left Barcap to set up my own boutique firm.

It is over the road from HSBC just before the main gate for Jebel Ali, which is just off SZR
