Seem to create a few issues over here, don't they? I stopped to let an Indian worker cross the road and the usual to$$er beeped behind me. What confused me though, is that 1 guy walked across, and 1 refused, despite me being there for probably 10 seconds, so I cracked on.

What's the rules here? I'm guessing I just won't bother stopping in future.

I am always worried that if I stop I will get rear ended by the car behind and like you what are the rules and hence who will the police blame.

Normally I will stop but only after looking in the rear view mirror.

i think the rules are 5 points for an indian, 10 for a fillipino [they can shift when needed], 50 for a kufr, and a good hiding if you hit your uncle or cousin.

i have noticed when walking that people stop for us whiteys, or at least will wait without beeping.

Zebra Crossing = walk of death.

I tend to stop IF I see people waiting. In the depths of Deira, you have to stop otherwise you will hit somebody as they don't care, they just walk

In theory it's the same rules as the UK*. In practice, it's completely random. I often flick on the hazard lights when slowing so I don't get rammed.

The worst crossings are the Palm Shoreline Apartments. They are constantly on flashing amber, so when they change to solid amber the dimwits in Landcruisers don't notice and charge on through red. Like Russell Peters says, "Somebody's a-gonna get a-hurt".
