Morning,

Got busted by the police last thursday travelling towards Abu Dhabi and despite attempts to outrun them wink i got a on the spot fine 300dhs and told to pay online, anyway had experience of this as when i log on it seems to say i have a few fines going back to 2007 which is odd as the car is only 6 months old. do i try and pay them all or just leave it?

Cheers Rick

Pay the one you got last week online (via the AD site as this is discounted).

Is the car 6 months old to you or overall? I'd raise a query with them if it is the latter, the missus got one taken off hers as they had misread a H as a K on the photo.

I can imagine the conversation...

"But the car's only 6 months old"
"Sorry sir"
"But, It's not possible..."
"Sorry sir"
"How could I have been speeding when the car wasn't even built yet?"
"Sorry sir"
"Did you understand a single word of what I just said?"
"Sorry sir".

Cheers chaps, have to admit I can't face the phone call! I logged back onto the site and paid the fine from last week at a discount of 300dhs the other fines seem to have a padlock next to them as if there locked I tried to pay just to see if it would let me and I can't. The first fine from 2007 was for "speeding and devilish driving" I st you not!!!!!

I'm now on a mission to get a ticket for devilish driving... fantastic.

You should probably try to get down to a registration centre (Shamil or Tasjeel or something) and talk to the guys there about the fines. In my experience they have been pretty decent and more helpful than the dudes at the police stations.

I had a couple of fines (ones with black points) that I needed to pay in person and could not do via the online system.

i was going through a speed trap in qatar couple of weeks ago, I know where it is and slowed to 100kph accordingly, on seeing a Merc flying up behind me as I approach the trap I braked and slowed to 80 (the limit is 100) and the merc flew straight through the trap as we were side by side setting it off, 2 weeks later, 700QAR fine! frown Miserable bds! After Ramadan I am going to go down to the traffic dept and try fight my case, however I suspect I may be pissing into the wind here, especially as my brake lights were on as the trap flashed (inferring guilt on my part).
