Had a lovely brunch a the Dusit somethingorother, but they shut the bar at 4. So, upon good advice we headed off to the Double-Decker bar at some neighbouring hotel. What a sh!t-hole. I guess i'm either too old or something, but a load of 40 something birds covered in tattoo's and twenty something blokes on a tough guy charge, spoilt the mood somewhat. Then there was the 50+ brigade absolutley hammered.

Glad to be at home.

DD's is filth, I know the crowd you have seen tonight, same faces every week, complete bell ends.

I've been at grand grill brunch, not bad all in all.

Cousin has just called, he is in town on his way back to afghanistan, rocky b's it is then!

Double Deckers used to be great when it first opened up... a decent bunch of people, but like a lot of pubs in this place, the chavs and scum are taking over... I blame the boom period - need to stop there before I turn into total rant mode!

I'm not a massive fan of the IV but I don't think its as bad as you make out Chilli - I've never seen anything but a mixed crowd there.

I've only been to DD once and it was on a Saturday afternoon - there were a bunch of loud girls in there making fools of themseleves and I got offered outside by some geordie monkey for being served before him. When I walked outside he didn't follow! That place is the Dubai equivilent of a Weatherspoons so I avoid it.

Like any city there are places here I'd rather not be. For me they tend to be at the ends of the spectrum - either stholes full of 'brits abroad' or ubber wky places full of lebos who think they're it because they spent their months hairdresser salary on a designer t-shirt.

dd's was my first brunch and i was hugely disappointed by the food and the 'one drink at a time' policy. stayed upstairs with a large group so managed to avoid the riff raff you saw.

i would kill for a beer right now. have had a 7.5hr flight and 8hr drive only to find i'm in a one horse town with no bar in the hotel frown

To be fair I've not been in about 18 months so I can't like it that much either!
