went to ikea last night and after 10mins wanted to shoot myself so i left. the next shop wanted 800AED for a bloody pillow and 2500 for a duvet, so i went back to ikea and bought the cheapest duvet i could stand which was 300AED. pillows from debenhams cost more than that, and don't fit the ikea pillow cases. i've spent about £150 on bedding that isn't compatible and i'm dreading the thought of having to go out tonight for ones that work. i also need bathmats, towels, show curtain etc.

where's best to go? i'm looking at google and 'dubai soft furnishing city' isn;t due for completion until next month which is going to be too late.

Really depends on quality and what you are prepared to pay.

M&S are not bad for towels and the like. Home Centre as well.

http://panemirates.com/

was there on Friday night looking at sofas, cheap, not sure exactly what you are after but call them and ask.

there is a Marina warehouse pretty much opposite that, DSS sale has started there was well.

having now properly read what you are after, don't think the above will be much help, more furniture type shops.

Home centre a pretty good shout, dare i suggest Carrefour?!

just after th basic without spending fortunes. i've just paid out a deposit and first 6wks rent so am pretty skint til payday. i bought decent pillows but a duvet's and sheets aren't high on my priorities.

in general terms, decent quality, nice design, midrange price. seemed to be crap or eye-wateringly expensive [and sometimes both at the same time] where i went yesterday.

in other news i love my new flat and furry housemate.

Bunch of pansies. Give some bint in the office 500 sheets, slap her on the arris (works better if she's a local) and tell her to sort it out pronto, and that you expect change.

How about the outlet mall place? Scratch that, it's ste. I'll ask Mrs C who RIGHTLY does all of this sort of thing.

Yep, another vote from Mrs C. She also said to steer clear of Debenhams.
Just got a text through....."M&S, Home Centre & Carrefour. Duxiana in the Dubai mall, or Festival City have quite a few".

Good luck with that!

Shame you missed the Debenhams sale. I bought 2 good quality King size duvets that were originally 800Dhs, reduced to 400 then 2 for 1 offer... so the pair for 400. Similar deal on pillows, bedding and towels. Poor chap had to take 2 trolleys loads to the car for me!
