afraid not, but it's something I'd like to try......not sure what Thrifty would have to say though!
I did it once it the Stang, was quite enjoyable.Entered the novice bit as had never driven the Autodrome before, had a great battle with a French fella in a 997 Carrera S. Novice section means only overtaking point is the main straight.
He was obviosuly all over me in the twisties but rounded the final corner and booted it and he never got passed.
I ended the 3rd session early as i was chasing him, cooked the brakes, engine temps in the red!
Had the pads replaced under the maintenance contract with Al Tayer
'Of course I haven't been racing'

Have heard Evolve have negotiated a discount at the Autodrome for this Friday, anyone here doing it?
Yup, I am the organiser and I will be particpating. You missed a great Track Day on 1 July - we had over 30 cars and got a 50% discount with DA i.e. AED300 for the Track Evening (Club Circuit). I have arranged another one for the 15th July (club Circuit again), sadly, it does not look like we will get 25% of the 1st July numbers, so it will be full AED600 (unless we have a massive influx of people on the day, if we get 10 cars and over - 30% discount
There is another Track Evening on the 29th July, which I am also organising, and believe that there will be a far better turn-out.

Aref has posted it on EMC so you might get a couple from there for a 30% chop. You missed a great Track Day on 1 July - we had over 30 cars and got a 50% discount with DA i.e. AED300 for the Track Evening (Club Circuit). I'd do it again, if someone would lend me a car I could abuse, just don't fancy doing it in the daily beater again, scared I'll break it.
Guy wrote off a GT3 last time I was there... Mafi insurance

That would not be a white GT3 driven by a French bloke? If it was then I was there the same night.I'd do it again, if someone would lend me a car I could abuse, just don't fancy doing it in the daily beater again, scared I'll break it.

Its one of the reasons why I bought my '97 E36 M3 Evo, to get back into Track days. I do also use it for DD along with my CR8.
I had 8 peeps interested, but sadly a few are now starting to pull out, so who knows how many will turn up.
Shame, seems I have gotten Aref hooked again on Track days (he's blaming me anyways hahahaha)

To be honest I don't remember what colour the '3 was, must have been about 12-16 months ago thinking about.
Was the first session of the night, advanced out first and he came a cropper 5 minutes before I was due to go out. Medic cars shot out as we were sat in cars, added some nerves to proceedings!

I think it is the same night as the one I was at.
Great evening on 15th at DA - sadly, not too many people showed up. Loads of Radical were there to watch and have fun with. Damn, but those things take corners like they are on rails!
Next Track Evening is on the 29th July details are here: http://evolve.ae/forum/viewtopic.php?f=124&t=1...
If we get the numbers, we can get a massive discount from DA.

I wonder if I could lay my hands Spencers Clio 182 Cup Car or the 120D race car for the track day? What ar we looking at cost wise for the track day (will have to check with the financial controller 1st!!).
Ian,Club Circuit is normally AED600, however:
if we get 10 or more cars - 30% discount (AED420)
if we get 15 or more cars - 50% discount (AED300)
Spencer ran his Clio at the 1st July Track Evening (damn but its quick in the corners). He mentioned that for the 29th, he would bring the diesel beemer, however, he then realised he would be out of town! hahahahaha
Hi Stephen,
How would it work if I wanted to bring the GT3 to one of your trackdays? Do I have to sign up somewhere?
Also, how is the general standard of driving, and what's the normal quality of cars that show up? I've done Porsche Club days at DA and Yas and had no problems, would people be looking to prove something against the GT3 or would everyone just get on with it?
Cheers

Well, its only a Track Day so no timing or anything. Sure, you play around with some of the cars and have a bit of fun, but there is no late braking into corners to overtake anybody or rubbing body-panels. At the end of the day, these are daily driven cars so people want to drive them home in one piece. If you see somebody coming up behind you, you let them overtake & vice versa - common sense.
As for our Track Days: there are two groups - Novice and Advanced. To qualify for the Advanced you must have done at least two Track days at DA before (they do not count Yas, but may consider you qualified cos of the Porsche Club days at DA - so you should be OK).
We have a very wide selection of cars: Scooby's, Civics, S2000's, Golfs, BMW's, Evo's etc etc (on 1st July Track Day we had 27 cars from all Manufacturers).
For Novice Group - they only allow overtaking on the main straight
For Advance Group - you can overtake anywhere on the circuit
On the 15th in the advanced group, there were only 4 normal cars (me in the M3, mate in the Evo and 2 vette's) and a number of Radicals. Half the time you were in clear airspace all around the circuit. Vids below from my car (my car is a DD, so I left everything as it should be OE incl tyre pressures and the like)

PS: So far I think we have 15 cars, most of which will run in the Novice Group, so if you are in the Advanced, then there will only be a few of our cars there (x2 Evo's - the black one in the Video's and a Evo X: they may want to have a little play with you)! hahahahahaWell, its only a Track Day so no timing or anything. Thanks mate, I sent Rain a PM to add me to the list, looking forward to it. Will get out of the way of any fast travelling Evo's and the like, just wanna take the car for a proper burn!S1MMA said:

Awesome - know what you mean: man & machine v TrackI am trying to get as many people to do as many Track days as possible so that I can make a big push to DA to run an Open Pit on the National Circuit plus give us a huge discount due to the number of cars we can bring (no newbies on the National Circuit).

Ok, I'll try to get along to as many as possible. I did the full track on the Porsche days (I believe), open pit lane would be good - that's what I used to prefer when doing trackdays in the UK, don't really like sessions but hey ho.I am trying to get as many people to do as many Track days as possible so that I can make a big push to DA to run an Open Pit on the National Circuit plus give us a huge discount due to the number of cars we can bring (no newbies on the National Circuit).
