Ok, I'm serious now....It's gonna get done.
I've written to the RTA but no response, obviously.
Like all of us (I suspect) I got my UAE DL by just showing them my UK licence. However, I don;t think the same can be said for the mtorbike part (as it's not on my UAE one) So, I guess I have to re-take some kinds test...hahahahahahah, sorry.

Has anyone here done it?

You, sir, are clearly mad if you think a bike here is a good idea.

If you have full bike license on your UK card/paper then you can just walk into the cop-shop and have it added to your UAE card.

Do you really want to drive a motorbike on the roads here? Dangerous.

Just get yourself a dirtbike and go out in the dersert, that's what I did and no license is required.

If you really want to get the road license, just call one of the driver training schools and they'll talk you through it. You will need to do about 20 lessons and take a test but it'll all be worth it when you get swept into the central reservation on SZR by 15 seat minibus wink

Na, it'll be fine. I'll only be out at the crack of dawn (fnnaarrr)at the weekends....and possibly a few trips inthe winter, but it won't be a blast diwn the SZR... I hear Hatta has some quality roads. Anyhow, off to the bib station to see if I can get it added.

The mountain pass that drops you into Kalba on the east coast is a must.

I'd join you for a dawn hoon on that stretch

a quick calc says i'm at 75%, he's at 87% of advertised price.

i doubt anyone sane would touch it at his price with no history or PPI. i'll trundle up in a week or two and reaffirm my offer. looks like i'll only be here for a week of august so not desperate for wheels yet.

Keep out my 4 wheeled way on the corners!

In face, who am I kidding, even with tiny contact patches, you'll still be quicker round the twisties than my yank tank!

Likewise, I have a car and bike license from the UK and kick myself for not getting the bike part put on my UAE license. Saying that DNATA kindly added the bike part to my International license for no extra. Now will the funds strectch to a track bike? I know of a very nice 749 going for sale.......

Well, it's gonna happen for me. I'm now just struggling with what to get. There's not much choice here is there?!
Dubizzle is throwing up little, and I can't find a shop that has a website!

Head out on the 44 towards Hatta, come off the 44 at the used car center but turn left towards airport, then turn immediate right into a row of shop (including german tire company), there are two or three large custom bike showrooms here. Chilli if you are coming in on the 44 from the villa's then you will see the german tyre company on the right before the junction, there is a slip road into the shops from the 44 heading into dubai.

Otherwise, the Yamaha, BMW, Harley or KTM showrooms on the 11.

Thanks for that mate. I have absolutely no idea where you're talking about, but will forward it onto the Mrs!

Head over to the Autodrome on 22nd as there is a track day (5pm start?). Talk to the bikers there and they will tell you all you need to know.

44 is Al Khail isn't it?
11 is Sheikh Zayed I think.

Does that help decipher the code?
