Having recently accepted a role in Beirut, I will shortly be looking to purchase a car here but I'm shocked how expensive they are in comparison to the UK.

Has anyone purchased a car in Lebanon and can suggest websites / areas to look?

OR

Has anyone imported a car from overseas and registered it in Lebanon?

I'm looking to spend as little as possible as I'm generally looking to save cash whilst I'm out here, but at the same time would like to get something reasonable thats a reasonable drive.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Indeed. Who needs a car when there's so much riding to be done!

The women here are certainly one of the positives offered, I haven't been here long enough to asses how 'friendly' the local women are, but I'm hoping........

Thanks for the link.
At the moment a Nissan Sunny seems to be the most exotic option available!

It will HAVE to be a BMW - no other car will do (complete with greased back hair, pointy shoes, wide open shirt and shades x4 sizes too big for your face - hahahahaha). Importing can be very, very expensive due to import duties on the car (so I have been told by a lot of Lebanese here in the office).

When we visited, we were shocked at the poor standard of spoken English, however, when out in night-clubs, it was experienced that if you are white, Euro/US Passport holder and could still breathe, you could pull without opening your mouth!
