cheapest car hire
Discussion
any recommendations? i'm supposed to get 25% discount with hertz through work but even with that their yaris is coming out at 700 a week, whereas i can get a lancer for 950 a fortnight from national.
are there any local firms who are dirt cheap? need something basic for a couple of week to go flat & car hunting in. as long as it's got aircon and likes being ragged i don't car what it is or how badly it's been looked after

cheers.
a civic through hertz is 2354. yaris is 1777.
my colleague hired a focus for 1700 a month through national a few mths back but i can't find that deal now.
back home, i'd not go near hertz et al, local supplier is always cheaper. thought if similar exists here i'd just go with them.

When I first moved here, a colleague put me on to Moon Rent-A-Car. They were the cheapest that I could find at the time and I used them for about four months. They are based in Karama but will deliver to your office.Pros: They only charged around 1600 per month for a Corolla. They were pretty flexible with payment terms i.e. I only paid about 1000 up front and they'd just call me every now and again when they wanted more money. I never had to traipse up to Karama to deal with them, they always sent someone to the office.
Cons: The car wasn't particularly clean and was covered in minor scrapes and scratches. They weren't very thorough with marking all the existing defects and I was always worried that they'd try to pin them on me afterwards. Having said all that, they never worried about the state of the car on collection and certainly didn't accuse me of causing any damage. I had to pay the Salik fees (at 5 dirhams/gate) and they weren't brilliant at producing the evidence for all the Salik charges.
The number is 0558847686, if you're interested.

I'm paying 3400 for a civic, so no good there. Have a look on Dubizzle, as some people put their cars on there for rent. I'm just not sure of the lergalities of it..ie if you have a smash, you'll have to say you borrowed it. Oh, and insurance would be good....I'd go with hertz!
Are you still hiring that Nick?as you see from the crash thread, i got sorted saturday. the mighty honda city is my charge for the SZR grand prix
2050dhs/mth including full CDW [i recommend it ] and delivery.
i keep hearing ads on the radio for national, who are offering a focus for 1750/mth and wish i'd waited a couple of days now.
PS - i didn't think radio presenters could be any worse than the radio 1 lot. i'd gladly swap them for the dubai dj's
