Typical I suppose. Anyway, the deed is done, from an eccentric Emirati designed villa in Al Barsha to Hilton Keynes - otherwise known as The Springs. Dubai's very own suburban sprawl.

Internet is now sorted and going to Etis-are-st and closing the accounts was rather satisfying today, it has to be said. the internet was patchy at best, not working at worst - and relieved of AED 450 for the pleasure for a 4mb line that never was.

Du seems to be far more sorted with better tech. AED 350 a month cheaper with a much better package than e-vision.

Just DEWA for the old place to take care of tomorrow and then hand the old place back - not going to miss the AED 2.5k monthly bills.

So, if any of you guys fancy it, we'll be have a house warming bash in the near future regardless of what state we're in as we left it 18months the last time hehe

Welcome to the Trueman Show Asterix, I've been trying to escape the Lakes on a small boat for two years now with no luck!

I feel your pain. We moved in in January, and there's still stuff I haven't looked at yet.

I promised myself and the Mrs that that is exactly what I will be doing on Friday - sorting through crap and throwing it.

I have to say that we've already done pretty well.

We have already got the kitchen, living & dining room clear. I've hung all the curtains. We bought some blinds today and I'll get the fixings tomorrow and throw them up. I've wired in all the appliances and sorted the cooker (gas). Amazing how the wife thinks I'm a hero because I can actually do this basic stuff. Even though she's heard a few stories, she still doesn't understand how resourceful an ex-Army mechanic can be.

The study (2nd bedroom) is still a bit of a mess but the main bedroom is nearly there. Guest room has become 'the dump' for now and her business room (the downstairs study), which will become a showroom for her business, is slowly getting there.

We already have a gardener and he'll give the car a once over regularly as well.

Getting sorted. We're determined to have everything out of boxes and in it's rightful place by the end of the weekend.

I also have to say that Du have been reliable. TV's set up in four rooms and the HD stuff in the lounge is spot on. The internet seems rfine and, for the first time in 8 years, I have a landline! The bloke turned up early and did a fast, good job. Loads cheaper, better quality TV and double the internet speed than Etisalat as well.

Surprisingly, using speedtest.net, it's very close. I've run the test over a few days at different times and it's been pretty consistent.
