Will be coming to the Abu Dhabi grand prix later this year, and would appreciate your thoughts on best grandstand for the gp? Was looking at booking South Grandstand with hospitality, but any better options? (without breaking the bank!)

no idea sorry. i do note the local papers are reporting it's near sold out so get a wriggle on. no idea if this is chestbeating as they're vague on numbers. i was told at work i had until the 16th may to guarantee a ticket, but i, er, forgot.

South Grandsrand in 2009 (end of back straight), North Grandstand in 2010 (beginning of back straight). South was far better as you get to see more of the track.

Tour / ticket companies buy loads of tickets so the event may be a "sell out" but you can get tickets from these firms.

Went to the Dubai Marina YAS stall last night to buy the tickets.... no debit card payments only cash or credit card.
Better than doing it online though as you can actually choose the seats you want.

Stil plenty of decent seats left in South Club.

Try and get seats at the exit of the corner, better views and better photograph point. Mind you, my lad took this photo last year from the North Grandstand:

Good photo. I was at that corner and looked away for a second at that exact moment. D'oh!

West Grandstand is best IMO.

Last year I had two seats in the West Grandstand. Two more friends had seats in the South Grandstand, so we swopped between the two over the course of the weekend.

I preferred the South Grandstand out of these two options. smile

I think a lot depends where you sit within the stand - the majority of West is ok, but I've always sat right in front of the pit straight (best seats) - so you get the view of what's going on down there, as well as the section in front of you.

The VIP bit is quite good too, the extra elevation helps.

True. smile

I've been in this stand for the GT1 races and it is possible to look right down the pit straight from high up (although it is right across the other side of the circuit). But my F1 seats weren't quite so good and I felt that the South stand offered a better overall experience.
