I am having a small item posted to me by United States postal service.

Now as everyone knows, the post here is crap, is it likely to end up in the bowels of Karama post office it's not being sent by courier?

The missus gets stuff sent from amazon UK by post and that arrives in the office but I have a feeling they will have a large PO box that we may not necessarily have.

Will I get notified if there is an item waiting for me at Karama?

Help!

Unlikely. The last time I had stuff sent by US Post, I waited forever and then went to Karama to discover it had been there for some time. No notification.

Was my first guess frown

Shipping is 5-10 days and I'm off to the motherland next thursday, she fked up the order first time and offered to refund the shipping.

Its being sent today and the shipping hasn't been refunded yet so I've suggested she couriers it and forgets about the refund in the hope that its arrives before I leave.

Where is the mystery Karama post office exactly? And any idea how long they might hold onto things for?

You should get notification on your PO Box, then you have to find the Post Office in Karama.

Shop and Ship through Aramex a far better bet - you get UK and US PO box and they courier stuff from the PO box to your home or office (at a price, obviously). Has also enabled me to retain a UK credit card as they require a UK address which is quite handy.

I have lots of stuff sent by USPS (car parts mainly) which arrives in my PO Box.

You should have a USPS tracking number and you can use this to find out when the item has arrived in Dubai (normally around 10 days), then I sent my man to the PO box to either pick up the parcel or the notification.

If get a notification saying I have to go to the post office to pick it up and pay import duty. If you go at 8am the whole process takes only about minutes.

STUPID BINT!

Despite me asking her to check with me before she sent it, she has posted it first class priority via usps.

Having checked the email history the only thing I didn't give her is my po box, she has my physical office address.

Any idea what the hell will happen to it now?
