Hey guys - been in Dubai now for a month and loving it. Be nice to hear about any events/meets etc you guys are holding.

Also, would appreciate any tips on getting hold of my first Middle Eastern metal. Top of my pile at present is the new Kia Cedanza. Test drove it and loved it - the price is staggering too.

Cheers

J

Welcome, you will find us Middle Eastern lot a good bunch all in all.

Regarding the Kia, they seem to have good reports but you should get yourself along for a browse around the used car center off the 44, lots of tasty metal which can be had for good prices, but very much buyer beware.

Also if you are buying a car on car finance be aware that you can't sell it till the finance has been cleared generally.

Welcome! Glad to hear you're enjoying life over here.

Have a look at this thread that I started a while ago on buying a used car. There are some excellent contributions from the regulars on this forum.

hi peter byebye

been here a month as well, enjoying everything so far.

must admit, a kia would be far from my first choice from all the cheap metal out here, but fill yer boots. by all accounts, bidding in the nuts seems to bring hefty discounts here, and companies such as al saluki motorsport will perform an independent inspection for somehing like 250dhs iirc. i've yet to venture up to RAK but i would want any second hand purchase to have a thorough going over before i parted with the cash.

Welcome to PH! The Cadenza's a pretty decent bit of kit, and buying new will get you warranty, insurance and free service included. Buying second hand gets you an amazing choice of tasty cars incredibly cheap, but it is very much a case of caveat emptor. I'll happily second the suggestion of using Mark at Saluki Motorsport to give something you're interested in a once-over, but I'm biased - my Jeep's in there this afternoon!

Mark or a2b Garage will give you an honest opinion of any car you are thinking of buying.

Who are you calling fat? It's not fat; it's the 'Dubai Stone' and you will find out what that is soon enough. Did anyone say 'Brunch'?!
