A 200k Porsche?
Discussion
Gents,
Before I sign on the dotted line, I'm having second thoughts about the Durango!
Saw a lovely 911 this morning and Dubizzle tells me that a decent one can be had for this amount.
Would a 200k (max budget) on a second hand Porsche be a good buy? Would you buy one if you didn't have a clue about cars in general?!

Buy my turbo (please)! It's a lot cheaper than 200k....
Well change the profile description first!!!I'm guessing it's the white one? Sorry, I really am that bad. If possible, can you pm me the details and some pics. I need to get it passed Mrs C, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Just helped a friend buy a 2003 C4s with 55k on the clock for much less than 100k, let alone 200k. The car was in great shape, with one owners from new and still with porsche warranty.
Sounds good, but 2003 is getting on a bit isn't it? I guess it depends on the milage and the history.Basically, if I can run it trouble free inbetween services, then I'm happy. If it delevops a different noise or rattle everyday (like the X5) then I'll get something new and sensible!

I need a friend like you! Starting the ME readers drives thread has ruined me. So many nice examples of fine German fare. I now *need* a Porsche but remain tight as tight as a camels arse in a sandstorm.
Chilli - 200k on a Durango would be an expensive mistake. 200k on a nice Carrera S would not!

Wow, sub 100k on a 2003 C4S. Sounds like a good deal.
Chilli: yep, it's the white one. I'll PM you, but based on your earlier comment, it may be a little too old (also 2003).
Thanks mate, but given it was yours, I can sleep easily knowing that it's been looked after....I assume??!!Chilli: yep, it's the white one. I'll PM you, but based on your earlier comment, it may be a little too old (also 2003).
Also, if it doesn't break the bank and will need little attention other than the servicing ( I apprecate this cannot be guaranteed!) then I'll give it some serious thought.
Mentioned to the Mrs that there might be a change of plan....she seemed confused, but I think she went with it!
Thanks again.
Glad to hear that mate!
Harris, I couldn't contain myself any longer and had to show the Mrs a picture of your beautiful car..Her response......?
"It's a bit gay, isn't it? I never thought you'd want a car like that"
So, any deal if I px a Purple/Green X5, and I'll chuck in a 1972, Blonde Kiwi bird, with average milage, but good for another 100k??!!

This thread sounds like my garage! I have a 2001 Durango and a 997. For AED200k you can find a 997 in great condition and with an Al Naboodah warranty (like mine!). I was planning on selling mine in March to go back to Range Rover but looked around and decided that there was nothing out there to touch it for the money and I bought an old V8 Durango instead to transport the golf clubs!!

Erm....I have looked at them, yeah. Thing is, I'd always be looking at it's big brother thinking I should have got one of those! Followed a lovely dark grey one this morning....
I had a Cayman S, and now I don't have just a 911, I have a GT3. I always look at the Caymans driving past thinking "what a great car", and actually prefer the Cayman S to a number of Carerra 911's I've driven. You can always play the one upmanship game with Porsche or anything in life, a GT2 could go past me and think I'm cheap, a GT2 RS could go past him thinking he's cheap, a Carerra GT could go past him thinking he's cheap, an Enzo can go past him thinking he's cheap................ and it goes on. Pick your mark in the sand and enjoy the car! It's all in the head, I'd take a Cayman S over a leggy older 911 any day of the week.
