OK, so my little bro bought a Pinin, 1.8GDI, and it sounds like he needs a new fuel pump, (the one on the rear of the engine block, with the new fangled electonitrickery in it), so does anyone know a decent supplier that would ship to Europe? (It'll be half the price that the pump would cost here, apparently)

Many thanks

Andy

There is a complete vehicle getting broken on Ebay UK right now, pretty sure the breaker will mail a pump over to you.

Good luck, let us know how he gets on.

Now I'm off the android phone I can get him some details. It's these guys he wants:

Triple X Car Spares
Victoria House
Garnett Street
Bradford
BD3 9HA

Tel 01274 738811
Opening Times
Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm
Saturday 9.00am - 12.00 noon

They say they are happy to ship abroad.

Failing that, that same pump is on the back of that engine in either Volvo guise on the S40 or the Carisma, anywhere really you find the 4G93 engine, which isn't that rare if you look around.

Also, I think I've got a lead on lifting the Pinin easily, so if he's still interested let me know and I'll post the details up.

Not just yet. We found a supplier here, that was fairly cheap, so getting those fitted. Works out the same price as the UK. The engine info was helpful in this regard. Many thanks!

Bought a pinnin a few months back. Car kept cutting out. turn out the high pressure fuel pump was knackered. Went to the local dealer for dignosis. they told me the would charge £950 to sort it!!

manage to get a fuel pump from a JAP breaker in the uk for £210.....And put it to a smaller garage to fit it. all ok now

Well, he finally got the pump fitted yesterday, and it still had the same sort of issue, except this time it was cutting out when idling. Anyway, chappy at the garage took the battery, (twas running from my battery as I needed to jump it), and charged the battery overnight. Next morning, it all worked fine. Drove maybe 30-40 Km's, without issue. Went to my local and when he started it to go off home, splutter, and lack of power intermittently. Seemed to be a 2 second cycle. power, then no power for 2 seconds, continuously.

I figured that maybe it worked earlier as the ecu reset when the battery was removed. Got home, disconnected the battery, then started it up.No problem. I followed him in my vit, with 10mm spanner in hand, and he drover 75-80Km's without an issue. Very odd one. Certainly seems to be NOT a fuel pump issue, bit something else connected to either ignition control, the ignition, or a fueling issue elsewhere...

Anyway, thought if someone else was having an issue, it might help resetting the ECU, (there are 3 ecu fuses, as well as a 'front ECU unit, whatever that is), in the fuse box, so a battery disconnect might help your issue.

PS, clearly the 'man with the expensive diagnostic tool' is a bit of a tool.
