Hi guys

I'm looking for a Diesel powered off road prepeared 90 at the moment, in the sub £4k bracket. I have spotted a decent looking one locally, but it has the Izuzu 2.8 fitted. I know nothing of these, so thought i'd ask here to gen up a bit. Anyone know if there is anything specific to look for? Reliable engine on the whole? Also, with LR 2/300 TDi's being of good bombproof reputation, why have the Izuzu lump in there anyway?

Cheers all

I have a trooper running the 3.1 turbo diesel that also gets transplanted into the 90s. Its got buckets of torque, will take abuse all day long and goes like the clappers. It will out tow my mates 300tdi ninety uphill and on the flat.

Have used a couple of Isuzu 2.8 diesels, lost track of mileage on one of them, however it must of covered approaching 300,000 miles with absolutely no problem!
