90% of offroading is about you, not the car. I have taken a yaris places many ranegrover drivers would fail to get to.

They are good..limiting factor is ground clearance over the centre diff area. Old Grand Vitara is better off road. Also I think the new one should have had a 2 wheel drive option as well.
I think in Japan they do but not here where they are permanent 4. Also they do a V6 in other countries.

if its got a low box, and A/T tyres on then it will do well.

Agree wntirely. Too many people are stuck up on massive articulation, and mahoosive tyres. Unless you are heading up Everest then a lot of it is overkill. Decent tyres, and a bit of sense and you can go plenty offroad. 90% of offroading is about you, not the car. I have taken a yaris places many ranegrover drivers would fail to get to.
Totally agree about tyres...the new vitara is a good car...but as said the transfer box / centre diff subframe is quite low, I have found it a issue on Caribbean roads compared to all the previous incarnations of Viatara. In fact the old school shape Terrios was better on the rutted dirt roads than the new Vitara.
