I very nearly bought a Pinin. I was after a capable 4x4 that could fit on my driveway but do a bit of off-roading at weekends, and they seemed to fit the bill pretty well. The only problem seemed to be the tiny boot, which would have defied the main point of getting a second car for practical reasons smile

See my contributuons on here. I have a Pinin, and it's a brilliant wee package.

I did the belt myself, cost me 5 hours of my time, and it's not as hard as it's made out to be. Just make sure you bar the engine through a few turns once its on, to make sure the timing is the same. They have an odd timing point on them I believe. Put new tensioners on as well, as they are a weak point. Take the radiator out and you'll see it's easy enough.

Regards 4x4 capability, it is very, very good indeed. Its pushed it's way through snow deeper than the 'pinin' badge is high before for over a mile to get to my MIL's house, and got me to Perth in the worst of it to rescue a mate whose car had gotten stuck in the snow with him , his wife and two small children children under 5. Considering the main roads were closed at the time, you can guess I didn't exactly get there on a nice smooth highway, I may have had to get 'creative' in my route hehe

Oh, and when you boot it - which you need to do every now and then to stop the engine inlet gumming up as it's a GDi - it makes a lovely rorty noise.

Stick a set of decent tyres on it as I did, and enjoy yourself. It may be small, but it's sure no toy.

Hey thanks chainguy,I did read all yuour reports thats how i found this site, I gooogled pinins and yours was one of the first that came up. I showed to wifey and she was impressed also. I will have to pay a garage to do the belt as not mechanically minded.

Drove the works one occasionally and apart from a fierce thirst for such a little car (26mpg average but is an auto) it ran and drove well (got dubbed the Tonka toy). Looked quite smart as a little black van with big alloys smile

(Still prefer Landies though wink)
