It's a BMS 150ST-A 150cc quad. Dad bought it for me secondhand but with a new battery & almost new tyres. All I've done to it so far is an oil change & air fliter clean.

What do you lot think of it?

Superb! Can I be horribly rude and ask for a price paid?

Sorry but dad got it for me, and won't tell me how much he paid for it.

As the bike had been riden for only a couple of hours by the Previous Owner and then parked up in a damp garage, was that the exhaust had gone all rusty and it was letting the side down a bit. So today I got the exhaust off, wire brushed it and then painted it with some High Temperature Silver Exhaust paint. I have to say I'm chuffed with the way it's turned out...

I'll go straight into what happened today I think. furious

Driving around a mud track everything fine, nothing smells bad, throttle response OK. After 10 mins of driving it starts to splutter, so I gave it more throttle. It then ground to a halt and threw a load of oil over my foot - turned out the sump plug had come out.

At first it wouldn't turn over (electric or kick start) but I waited a while for it to cool down, and it eventually fired up and ran. But was very tappetty and wouldn't idle. I tried to start it again after a little while to see if the tappetty noise had gone and when it fired up I forgot I left my thumb on the starter switch banghead so the starter burnt out as well.

So about £50 worth of parts will be needed - piston, rings, block & a new starter motor. I've started taking it apart and I'm at the stage now that all it needs for the engine to be out, is the chain disconnecting.

I've stripped the engine down today, still waiting for the new bits to arrive hopefully early next week. As I was stripping the engine down however I've noticed that the rocker assembly has snapped (in pictures) so a new one of these will need to be ordered too.
