Evening!

Before anyone tells me the post is in the wrong topic (i.e. Murano /= Offroad) I was just looking for a more general view on the vehicle?

Considering buying one a few years old - seem to get a lot for your money, and it checks all the boxes. Looked at a lot of others and between styling, performance and practicality, we've come up with this one.

So any huge gotchas? Or anything in particular to look for?

Welcome any feedback as its the first venture into 4X4s

Cheers!

I'd have thought it would depend on what you want to use it for?
Off roading, or a decent winter car?

Right - fair point.

The latter - big utility vehicle - dog in the back etc... something of a classic pseudo-4x4 requirement I'm afraid.

I would imagine it's a re-bodied x-trail. If it is, they are surprisingly capable off-road, and in deep snow. The lack of LR box hinders over the really rough stuff, you'd be surprised. It's certainly a match IME for a Freelander.

The x-trail has 3 settings 2WD, Auto, and Locked, and the top spec models had some form of active torque split across the "axles".

Nissan don't have the best reliability record so worth googling what to look for. Engines in last and current gen 4X4s seem to have a number of issues.

I had a 55 plate on for a while when they first came to the UK and I loved it.

Fuel economy was a little scary, average of about 17mpg, internal build quality wasn't the best... bits of trim broke when I had a car kit fitted.

The drive however made up for all of this, it remains one of my favourite vehicles to drive, lovely sound, great driving position, enough power etc etc.
The only thing to be aware of is that it has a CVT gearbox which isn't to everyone's taste.

It had been on the fleet for 18 months and 60k when I left the company and all I'd done is service it, nothing mechanical failed at all.

It is a 350z on stilts. same engine and gearbox, just a bit higher and SUV lookalike!

Pretty decent if you forget the fuel economy.

Deposit is down on one... so appreciate the input smile

Had a drive and was sold. Ticked all the boxes for us.

A bit thirsty as you said, but nothing more than you'd expect from that engine, and almost 2 tonnes of car to lug. Still better stats than the Cerb wink
