Kumho KL71 165/70/16 on a Disco 2
Discussion
Hi Folks,
Went to look at the KL71's today after work and at the local Tyre place and the guy had one to show me, but when i told him what size I want 265/70/16, he tried to talk me down to 245 and said that the 265 tyre would kill my discovery? I she talking rubbish? I am getting a 2" lift, before fitting the tyre so there should be pleanty of room, I had even considered the 285/75/16.
WOuld like to know what you guys think?

Thanks,
After the 2" lift will the 265/70/16's catch at all?

Depends how hard you drive. The lift might appear to give space for the tyres but unless you extend the bumpstops then the wheels can still get as far up in the arch as before so they'll still rub the same at full articulation. After the 2" lift will the 265/70/16's catch at all?

I run some 33.11.50R15's which are about a 290/90, although measure around 34" tall.Went to look at the KL71's today after work and at the local Tyre place and the guy had one to show me, but when i told him what size I want 265/70/16, he tried to talk me down to 245 and said that the 265 tyre would kill my discovery? This is on a 200Tdi.
It will affect gearing and acceleration, but even stock it was ok, just don't use 5th below 50mph. If yours is a TD5 then I'd look at a remap and call it job done!
