Quick easy question that I'd check the handbook for if it wasn't 60miles away.

I've got a 2004 2.4 Sport & when turning to park etc it feels like there is a locker in the back locking & unlocking. It feels just the same as the detroit I had in the back of a disco years ago.
Does it have a fancy diff? or is it something else? The other thing that made me wonder was when crawling under it tonight (to poke the handbrake that's been playing up) was there is wiring to the rear diff, if it's not a locker what's that for?

Its a guess, but that would probably have a LSD (SelecTrac tranmission or CommandTrac). If it has a locker, then it has been modified. These are usually air operated so there would be some kind of airline going onto the diff housing. I guess that either air is pumped in, or a vacuum created, which moves the relevants bits and pieces to lock / unlock.

Really can't help, but like in other threads www.jeepforum.com is a good place to ask specialist questions. Good luck.

No chance of it being modified. LSD makes sense from how it slides & never seems to spin up a single wheel.
I'm just curious really as to why it's got an electrical connection to the diff. The only idea I can come up with is ABS sensor for the rear if it uses a three channel system. Seems odd though.
