Evening folks,

The rear leaf springs on the Jeep are getting rather saggy and it's time to bite the bullet and get a replacement pair. I've found a couple of places on the dreaded ebay but it does seem alot of money for something that dates back to the horse n cart.

Does anyone have any nifty suppliers for these things?

Cheers,

Nik

I recently paid just over 50 quid a spring plus vat from paddocks for my series 3.

I believe jeep parts are more expensive though.

I got a pair of practically new springs from a car in a breakers near me for £50 and fitted them myself on Saturday afternoon.

Might be worth trying Lighthouse and/or Mansfield for prices, also might be worth asking on a Jeep forum like Birtydastards etc.

Thanks guys,

I'll check out the suggestions. I don't want to spend a fortune as at some point, I may want to go for a 3" lift which would involve springs, shocks, tyres etc so it's a bit of an interim step.

If you get a price from Mansfield 4x4, check ebay for their shop there as they'll often sell stuff cheaper on their ebay shop than direct through them and vice versa.

Yeah thanks. I've found their ebay shop and they're £160 for a pair of standard height ones (+del) and £180 for the H/D ones (which lift the Jeep about 3 inches or so)

Doesn't seem awful money but alot for a temporary measure. That said, I guess I could buy the standard ones and sell them on, once i've acquired the necessary parts for the lift.

Update : Jeep cherokee rear leafs

Bought a pair of 2nd hand rear leaf packs from a sIII 109. ( £20 )

i now have "3 of lift over where i was before.

Before "17 from hub to wheel arch

after "20 from hub to wheel arch.

im bloody happy!
to fit the leaf packs, i removed all of the Cherokee leafs except the main one.

cut both eyelets of the 109 pack, and removed all but 3-4 leaves ( starting with the smallest )

at this size the cherokee u-bolts were able to be reused.

also, i had to increase the size of the centre retaining bolt hole to fit the new replacement landrover size pack bolt.

I bought my last diesel rear set from Lighthouse Jeep and they were in the region of £180 del. Very good quality though and consigned my Explorer Pro Crumps to the bay. (Lighthouse - 01953.681237).

"The hand fettl'd leaks" lost me a bit. smile

Thanks for the Lighthouse Jeep number. I'll give them a call before shelling out for a new pair.
