Hi all,

A local LR fan has offered me a nice wee sum of folding for my '98 110 300Tdi, however I'm torn betwen the offer and the Landie as it has been utterly dependable.

It's the last of the 300Tdi's and has about 78k on the clock (this is not an ad, btw, just a coupl of details to see if you lot reckon it's a top offer) and the first two owners never took it off road (was used for towing a caravan on holidays) and it has no rust and it is tip-top condition.

It's an unusual colour being kind of turquiose blue. The offer is £10500...

What the hell would I replace it with?

It seats 11, tows my car transporter and everything else with ease and wants for nothing.

Suggestions/comments?

Chers,

C.

Is this offer more than the average for your model with your mileage? If not then surely you could sell at any time and not just now. If it is more then sell it and get another one.

Do you need the car? If so, keep it. If not, sell it.

I've had a look on a couple of sites and some of my model are selling for over £10k with well over 100k miles...

I don't think I'd ever be able to get another 110 300 Tdi like this one, hence my reluctance to part with it.

depends what you want....i've just sold my 110 300tdi for pretty much exactly that, as i was getting fed up with noise, discomfort, slowness etc. some call it character. bought a mitsubishi shogun which is heavenly in terms of all of the above things. and it has 7 seats. be honest, does your 110 feel safe with 10 people in?? i wouldnt want to be in the back thats for sure!

I've never had the need to load the 110 up with 10 people, plus that's not what I bought it for.

However I have had the whole rear area (removed all the seating) full to the brim with freshly cut firewood. The rear mud flaps were an inch & a half from the ground and it felt totally stable on the 60 mile run home.

How many miles did your 110 have on it, out of interest?

Last year I sold a TD5 Station Wagen 02 plate with 44k miles for £7.5k ...same price I had bought it 12 months earlier....I was happy...but if kept it another 12 months it would of easily gone for £9.5k

My advice is sell it whilst Defender prices are high.... its 12 years old...and whilst all looks good... the rear x-member / bulkhead will be will be rusting from the inside out.

I would say in a normal world your Defender would be worth £7.5k ....whether its snow panic or lack of 06/07/08 vehicles is artifically raising the prices.... get the cash back in the bank and have a result !!!!
