Broken bonnet cable!!

Hi, i have a defender and have just tried to open my bonnet and twang the bonnet cable snapped! Anyone have any ideas on how to open the bonnet? Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's possible to remove the radiator grille without opening the bonnet - try that.

but by doing that how do i then open the bonnet??

You'll be able to see the catch that the cable operates - move the lever.

(Unless you've got aircon - I've no idea how things are packaged behind the 'sticky-forward' grille, but would imagine there might be an evaporator in the way)

I can easily open mine by pulling on the bare wire next to the catch by pushing my fingers through the front grill section.

Thanks for the help, i managed to get my hand up behind the front grill and pull the cable which released the catch. One good use of long arms!
