hi, looking at both of these, both used, 5 years old. any thoughts? diesel, auto, all the toys. i would imagine both are very sturdy. yes i need 7 seats and off road ability, not much between them. shogun seems to be cheaper road tax, cant work out why as it has a bigger engine 3.2 v 2.5. insurance identical. any opinions welcome, thanks Mike

The Shogun would be my choice, but I am a Mitsi man.

The Pathfinder is the full bodied version of the Navara pickup and you will find people have had lots of problems with the Navara, clutches going, engines eating themselves etc etc.

My old man has run Shoguns for the last 7 years and has never had a problem with them.

Check when the Shoguns went from live rear axle to independent. If you want to use it properly off-road, you might find you're better off getting a slightly older one.

I've just bought a Shogun over a Pathfinder. Main thing that put me off the Nissan is the horrible interior. Also all the fuss with the Navara being a deathtrap that went by a couple of years ago did put me off a bit.

I am really feeling the need for a 4x4 at the minute and been looking at cheap Shogun's, would a TD LWB at just over £1k be a moneypit?

Not necessarily, no. Don't rule out petrol though. They cost comparatively quite a bit less, don't use that much more fuel, and have far more power.

Looks like I might be getting a swb Shogun. 3.0 petrol with lpg conversion, big mud tyres, suspension lift and snorkel. Just need to shift my Golf first.
