Whato chaps!

I'm back, after a brief hiatus, having gone from a TVR Tuscan S to the opposite end of the scale with an '05 Mitsubishi Warrior!

I'd like to get around to do some off-roading at some point so will be reading up all about that soon.

Does anyone know or has anyone mounted a CB radio into the dash of the Warrior? If so, where's the best place for it? I'm thinking it could go into the little space under the radio but suggestions (and pics) are welcome.

I'd get a roof mounted magnetic based aerial - where and how do you run the cable from the CB to the roof?

Cheers all!
J

Haven't got 1 in my L200 but theres plenty of guys at the L200 owners club into their offroading who've added one. Worth doing a google search and link over to the forum from there.

If you mean the cubby hole under the ashtray/lighter then theres a fair amount of space back there....it just pops/pulls out..I've just routed my ipod leads and modulator behind it.

Hey,

I've joined the L200 forum - good lads with lots of info on there.

Yep, I meant the cubbyhole bit.. That's the only place I can really see it fitting without being massively in the way. I'm then thinking I could run the aerial wire out through the engine, then somehow underneath the car and up round the back onto the roof?! I'd rather not be drilling holes anywhere!

Not sure if it helps but I was looking for a way to get the wiring etc for a boost gauge routed and its a relatively clear path from behind the cubby hole up and through the firewall where the speedo cable goes...that'd give a direct-ish route to the engine bay.

Hmm, could be a good idea. Just need to get a decent smallish, cheap CB!

Already pondering what the next upgrade will be after that. Body lift or A bar and spots on front?! smile

Decat it.

As for body lift look at Milners 4x4 rear leaf springs.....they're...um...hard and high, got them on mine and while a bit bone shakery the rear end sits high....mine are standard rear leaf springs and I still had a 2008 Warrior owner asking what lift I had on when he parked next to me this afternoon.

Is it really worth decatting? What's the benefit?

Can the Milners lift be done as DIY? Although I think I'm going off the idea of lifting though. It's hard enough getting into low roof garages at the moment - and will be even harder once the lights add another 6" on the roof!

Hi back!

From what I can gather decatting lets the engine breath easier, gases out quicker...been described as feeling like you'd previously been driving with the handbrake on.

Might give overboost but for the price (£29.95 IIRC) I'll probably give it a go once my 2 Italian shopping carts stop eating my ££...and I got more work booked in/new job frown

I'll take a photo of mine tomorrow and see what you think about how it sits.

Cheers! Pics would be great smile

£29 to decat? Sign me up! Does it still pass the MOT?

Diesels are smoke test not emmissions IIRC so as long as the engines healthy then should be fine.

Do an ebay search, the 1 I was looking at was this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am... though you'd need to check the fit for an 05 model.

I decatted my old M3 with noticeable improvements and it went through 3 MOTs with it decatted, tester used to get me to rag it round country lanes for 10 mins prior to the test to clear the system out.......such a b*llache to do eh??!!??!

Right, that's another thing added to the list! smile

Looks pretty easy to fit from the picture. 4 bolts... I could do that myself! Just need to get underneath. Anyone got a guide or pics on what to undo? smile

Once a paid up member of the L200 forum you get access to techie areas and the search facility....just do a search on decat, loads of info.

Be worth soaking your cat bolts with WD40 for a while before and the orig bolts may well be rusty a right B to get off....hacksaw, dremel, reciprocating saw or blowtorch or local garage to remove it.
