always wondered what these would be like as an overlanding vehicle- don't they have Pajero running gear?
Yeah they do. check out this guy's videos it's in about 16 parts though, he videos his trip from Melbourne to Moscow in his Delica with a few other 4x4s:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUuOtT9rhkY&fea...

Mostly, but not completely. I've spoken to a couple of guys who've taken them to pay & play sites, and whilst you do to them pretty much whatever you can do to a Paj, quite a few of the replacement parts are more expensive and much harder to find, apparently.Cheers!!!
It doesn't have all the toys and gagets that some of them have but it has enough, eg seperate air con & heating in the back and front, 4 x electric sun shades in the back which my son loves, captains seats which swivell and fold into a bed or allsorts of other arrangements. Some models were equiped with every gadget you could think of including electric curtains, windsreen wiper heaters (for when they freeze to the windscreen), kareoke machines (the japanese did love their kareoke). But you can find a lower model like the jasper or the chamonix which has more gadgets than the Super or Royal Exceed as when they were first bought in Japan they specified exactly what extras they wanted.

Well I've got her some new boots now, KL71's 30x9.50 R15 biggest tyres that'll fit without removing parts of the wheel arch and mud flaps....
Had them fitted...
And last night they were put to the test towing a transit out of a muddy field. I couldn't believe how well she handled it, it was like I wasn't even attatched, no wheel spins, no effort at all. The guy in the green flag recovery truck wouldn't go near it as he said he would be liable if he got stuck aswell.
I've also redesigned my cooker unit slightly to give my truck some protection from the heat and steam, used a couple more computer sides to make a fold up cooker hood...
Snorkel next me thinks....

Toyed with the idea of getting one of these to go round Australia in as it seemed a good compromise between off-road and comfort. I always thought they looked a bit top heavy since they sit so tall compared to your average off-roader?
Unfortunately our Mitsu van had been so unreliable it completely put me off the brand

I'd love to do that a proper overland expedition, there's a 15 or 16 part series on youtube where an Aussi bloke drives his from Melbourne to Moscow with a couple of other 4x4's (Discos I think). It's well worth a watch. This is part 1...

Yes they are a little high, but driving-wise it doesn't really feel much different to any other 4x4 i've driven except when you pull up next to another 4x4 and you realise how high you are.... You just have to be aware and realize it's not going to corner like a car, some have ECS fitted to help firm the suspension as you are turning.

Australia is as if it was purpose-built for 4WD overland expeditions - it's brilliant
With the height thing; I was thinking more about the off-road ability than normal cornering, e.g. how far it can lean on a wonky road before it'll go over. The 60 series Land Cruiser had a gyro-guage thing on the dash and the red markers were at 30 degrees (not that I ever got near that)

I've just been looking on the owners club forum, and they recon it's approx 40 degrees. I'd be clenching my cheeks if I were in that Deli.
