If anyone is planning on going tomorrow DON'T!!!!

£14 per person to get in.
It took two hours to walk around the whole lot, and what little that was there was rubbish.
So my advice is for God's sake don't go.

Totally off topic, but looking at your profile, is there anywhere at all in Somerset to go legally off-road?

My parents and inlaws live there, so I've often thought it would be nice to escape to the lanes on Boxing day or whenever, but I've not been able to find so much as a sniff of a lane there!

No is the simple answer.
There are a few off road sights around Devon and Dorset. but all green lanes have been closed by Mr Blair.
If your not worried about dents in your car most weekends there is a scuffle going on somewhere.

There are enough green lanes in South Devon to keep an intrepid explorer busy without repetition for six days at least! I spent three very interesting days around Exeter in 2008 and 2009 exploring said green lanes, this year we ventured to the Lake District and the Dales as my co-explorer / navigator now works in Dumfries & Galloway rather than Devon.

For sure the NERC act seriously reduced the number of viable green lanes but there are still a lot which are under-used (shame that the magazines cause "honeypot effect" of the long ones - often the short ones (less than a mile or so) are absolute scenic gems!
