JCW (in the Landie) and I (in the Shogun) have been out to play this afternoon, and a great time was had by both, as shown below. smile

We're planning to head back out again over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Anyone want to come and join us? Everywhere we go will be completely legal, but still fairly challenging from time to time.

I could be around for this Chris depending on what day you go for.

I was thinking probably Sunday, but open to alternatives. It's my 40th birthday on Friday, so that should buy me some flexibility!

I've just had a request for Monday over on Difflock, so that's a consideration as well. What days suit you, Nigel?

Let's work on the assumption that Monday it is, then! biggrin

Now we just need to work out starting place & time. My vote would go for a couple of hours before lunch, decent pub, then a couple of hours afterwards?

Go on then, explain how you've got "Don Logan" as a login name with a real name of Lee! hehe

So much for my PM!

Haha, yeah i should have just called myself Lee, but i joined my first off road forum as Don Logan and though i'd keep it the same across them all. I do get called Don when i meet forum people for the first time. It's a film character. A very good one.

I'd be up for this if it's happening. I've only got my road tyres down in London though. Will I be ok?

It's definitely happening. There would certainly be some places in which you'd struggle with road tyres, but we'll have ropes with us, and none of the lanes are so long that for trickier ones you couldn't just jump in with someone else for a while.

If it's actually raining on the day, you might want to reappraise that though. I know from experience that going down chalk lanes in the wet on road tyres is, erm, interesting!hehe

They're not completely road biased (General Grabber ST 265/75/16), but do not compare with the MTs that I'd usually have on -

I'll look out for the time/meeting point info!

Ah, well, in that case, you're sorted! They'll get you everywhere we're going with no problem. I'm only using ATs, and they don't have any issues.

So, the where and the when... Better put it down now, as I'll be 40 by then, and might be going senile! hehe

I suggest we go for a 10am start from the sports club car park at the bottom of London Lane in Shere. We can do the lanes around there in the morning, have a pub lunch somewhere, then head down to Hindhead in the afternoon.

London Lane is pretty easy to find. Just put "London Lane, Shere" into Google Maps. The fun starts where the lane on the map stops. smile

Happy to listen to any alternatives people might like to suggest.

Would those of you joining us next Monday mind if I sent you a copy of a letter that I've sent to the local Countryside Access Officer, objecting to the proposed TRO that the NIMBYs are trying to organise? Its one of the lanes that Kermit and I used the other day, and if you're amenable needs personalising and a hard copy sending to the Access Officer BY AUGUST 27TH?

Its a 5 minute job and will add to the list of objections to the proposed TRO. The problem is that unless the responsible off roaders don't gain a voice soon, increasingly, these lanes are going to be closed off if the NIMBYs get their way.
