I have a defender and when i turn the key in the ignition the dash lights come on as normal but when i turn it futher the engine dosnt start up or even attempt to. I thought at first it was my battery so i took it out and charged it even tho its only 6weeks old. Put it back in and still nothing!! Anyone know what could be wrong with it?
Thanks

^^ Like he said.

Giving a TAP on the starter with a hammer could sort it.

Push the bonnet right up to the windscreen to gain access to the starter motor (a the back of the engine bay, behind and under the turbo). The solonoid is on top of the starter and often sticks. Give it a good tap with a long straight bar (socket extension) or hammer if you can swing it in there and this may cure it (temporarily). Mine sticks if it doesn't get used for a couple of weeks.

It may be the small wire to the solenoid has come loose or fallen off at the starter, I had this happen to me once.
