Yes, another stupid question from me. I recently had to fit a replacement front prop shaft on my disco and since then when I go above 20 odd mph i get this droning noise coming from underneath my feet. Its a brand new propshaft so i would pretty much rule anything being worn out and it started as soon as I changed it (to replace a snapped one).

Any advice and or sarcasm would be greatly apreciated!!

Put the propshaft on one side of a see-saw and then add weight to the other side, when it's level, it's balanced.laugh

First one off google for Liverpool
http://www.a1propshafts.com/

I would imagine it's similar to balancing a tyre - they spin it and add weights.

You can also add a jubliee clip or 2, and rotate the clip so that the heavy side eventually ends up in the balance position. It is a bit redneck, but it works and is a get you out of the poo solution.Failing that, get your wallet out and do it properly.

Hang on, you said it was a Landrover? Get the jubilee clips out!!

You said your prop broke, I think you may have done some other damage, needs a good look at.

We have never had to have a propshaft balanced even when we have shortened them in the past for special applications.

Also a Propshaft needs to be aligned right.

On a Defender the front UJ needs to be 30° out of phase.

The rear needs to be in phase.

No idea if this is your problem but it is worth looking into.

OP, did you try this? Was the Landy prop able to support the weight of a jubilee clip?
