I know from my housemate the Police ones at the dockyard break a lot, indeed the last time I got in the back of one the doorcard came right off in my hand... Clutches, boxes, suspension and alternators all keep dying.
Having said that, they do have a rough life driving over the dockgates all day, and the alternator can probably be put down to the extra strain from the lightbars and radios. I don't think they engines have ever died on them.
He hates it with a passion though and did spend almost every day in it for 12 hours at a time. I think he said the newer ones seemed a lot better though. Maybe.

Genuinely suprised to learn that because problems with them rarely, if ever get mentioned anywhere. The faults they do have will be caused by fair wear and tear (or otherwise)and certainly don`t have generic problems like Navara engines for instance.
I've had 2 from new and the only probs I had were a tendancy to snap the rear leaf springs, I think this is because I ran them on no load and put the strain simply on the 1st leafs causing movement only in them along a limited range(if that makes sense) ford said it was down to lack of greasing, I'm not convinced on that one as they snapped near the hanger.
