We are running a Grand Cherokee auto td and can only get 2nd gear on drive.Reverse and low/high box is fine but on drive it will not budge out of 2nd gear. Any ideas/tips on what I should look at or is it a trip to the dealer?
Thanks in advance
Ian

2.7 or 3.1?

2.7 merc gearbox is a mare, go to a merc place before a jeep tho, will be cheaper, 3.1 is agricultural & could be the solinoid pack or control unit. Stick in an OBD2 reader & see what codes you get.

Thanks man - very helpful attachment. the merc specialist said they couldnt read it therefore it had to go to Jeep dealer who tell me it needs a new shift assembly at a cost of £650 plus vat!!! Anyone got any reccomendations in the Midlands where I might get it cheaper or is it a straight forward job that I could take on, not bad with spanners as long as I have a good manual.
Cheers
