Help Please,

I have replaced the slave cylinder and master cylinder on my 90 V8, but there is still no feel on the pedal after bleeding.

Is it something simple that I have missed or is it likely to be something more serious?

The LR has been standing for 2 years.

Many thanks,

Graham

As it's been standing for so long would it be possible for the friction plate to have rusted itself to the flywheel or even the splines on the input shaft?

Most likely the clutch plate has rusted itself to the flywheel as GKP says. When my old Series motors did this occassionaly after not being used I used to use a wodden post to jam the clutch pedal in the down position and leave it there. A few hours later I would hear a loud 'thunk' when they finally decided to let go of each other. . . . smile

Someone else has suggested this could be the problem and has suggested starting the 90 in gear with my foot hard on the brake. Would this work in the same way?

Thanks.

Yep. Get the engined warmed up first (fast idle for a while then switch off) put the handbrake on (as it's a tranmission brake) and stand on the brake pedal, too. Stick it in gear, then crank the engine...

Edit for spooling.

or

get engine nice and warm.

put in low range....and start in first gear....as it goes along....stamp on the clutch and brake at same time...and try and keep revs up...worked for me in the past.

Other one is fill the bellhousing up with coke a cola....never tried it... but removes the rust ?
