Hi,

Just about to buy an Mitsubishi L200 trojan 2006 (double cab, old shape). This will mostly be used for towing a horse trailer sometimes with two horses in it.

The l200 has not had the power upgrade and at £700 to get it retro fitted I am trying to decide if is worth it.

Without upgrade: 115bhp at 4000rpm, max torque 177 lbs.ft at 2000rpm

With upgrade: 138bhp at 4100rpm, max torque 202lbs.ft at 3100rpm

Any one have experience of the upgrade, is it likely to help the towing or just make the fuel consumption worse.

Thanks

My mum up until recently had an L200 (the raging bull edition) and had the power pack upgrade, can't comment on what it's like without but with the upgrade it made easy work of a fully laden 2 horse trailer and the back filled, that was in auto guise.

ETA: Sorry just noticed you are asking about the old model boxedin but hopefully the above has been of some help anyway.

to be honest, you can get an aftermarket add on box, which may not be quite what your looking for but I've fitted plenty and no complaints. They come in at about £400ish plus the VAT but you'll get similar power, and at half the price.
