Hi all,

After purchasing a sportrak today for having some fun on the farm, I just thought I'd ask if there were any greenlanes in sussex, around the haywards heath/crawley/east grinstead area.

Many Thanks

Dan

See the post above about Surrey: I've put a link there to the free online OS map service, but your first step is to buy 1:50,000 or (even better) 1:25,000 OS maps of your area.

This is a really good site with a good selection inc videos (taken from a bike) & pics http://www.southerntrails.co.uk/

I can highly recommend Robin Post Lane (nr Hailsham) and Laughton Forest for starters.

Just be aware that many lanes in East Sussex, and probably everywhere else, are really overgrown (Not the two above though) I always have a look at a route on google maps/satellite first.

The really long lane running Alfriston to Firle is unfortunatley overgrown at both ends: fine in a beat up narrow 4x4, but no good for shinier stuff.
Shame that.

Drive slow and considerate, and give way to everyone/thing.

I'm in a 13 year old daihatsu sportrak with a scaffold pole bolted to the front in some half arsed attempt at a bull bar... I think overgrown I can live with.

I thought all lanes in Sussex were RUPP's.

If so, these have all been downgraded to "Restricted Byways".

If I am correct you will have to go to Surrey and Hampshire.

Can anyone confirm that?
