Off road day for a beginner

This is probably an odd request, but here goes anyway. The mother-in-law is going to Namibia on a holiday which involves hiring a 4wd and heading through the country. Now we are not talking serious off roading here, but I'd have thought there is always the chance of meeting the kind of conditions that could challenge her. As I said she's hiring a 4wd, but I thought it probably a good idea if she had a little tuition before hand. You know just so she knows what 'that funny looking other gear stick' is for and the like.

Does anyone have any recommendations? She's based around Norfolk but will travel. I suppose ideally we'd be looking for somewhere nearby her, but not too close to Cambridge as that's where I live ;-)
