Decided to put my CB unit into my car rather than gather dust in the house.

Ive never fitted one before or used one so Im a bit lost.

I have installed it through a cigarette plug and using a mag mount with a 5ft(ish) aerial.

I have a SWR meter and its coming up as just below 1 on the scale.

The unit is new (Maxon CM10) but I dont seem to be picking anything up?

I was adjusting the SQ until the 'feedback' stopped, and on 1 channel I could hear talking but it was very distorted and faint?

Anyone any ideas or is it just that no one in my area uses these anymore?

Is your coax alright, running without being trapped, any kinks or splits? Is it connected into the back of the CB alright, I`d be checking simple little things like this first just incase.

As said, channel 19 is the busiest but have a flick round there`s always somebody out there.
