Off road routes forums - are there any?

Hi folks,

I'm off to Orkney for work in a few weeks and i'm thinking that i might try and take advantage of the light evenings and hire a 4x4 and get my first taste of off-roading!

So, are there any obvious places (google yields little) where i can find like-minded people who might have driven routes on Orkney?

Also, i think i'm going to fly to inverness then catch a boat onto Orkney, anyone know a reasonably priced car rental place in Inverness where i can hire a semi-capable 4x4...?

SHB 4X4 Hire, but I am not sure there are any legal 'green lanes' in Scotland.

Hi there, Focus Car Hire at Inverness airport will hire you anything from a 4x4 pickup to a Rangerover. Sorry I don't have any experience off roading in Orkney, why not post your request on the PH Scottish forum,you might even find yourself a local Orkney 4x4 enthusiast.
