Used to go there with my old 110 - have a P38 now and saw a couple of their meets suspended when I was planning to go.

Now the website says it's closed indefinitely. Anyone know why??

Taken from another forum:
Kevin said:
Woodlands the story so far;
about 18 months ago the landowner offered to put a new road in down to the site; at the same time he would install a wheel-wash and redo the fencing.

During a recent review that the landowner had with his solicitor and underwriter regarding his company’s public liability insurance, the subject of Woodlands came up. The landowner was advised that his public liability insurance did not cover or protect him as far as Woodlands was concerned and consequently he pulled the plug on us until he can get adequate cover.

At present he is still in discussions with the underwriters and in the meantime the work promised has been started. The upshot of this is that he and his family are now managing the offroad site. Consequently there will be a lot of rule changes stricter controls on cars and spectators and also, I expect, the price will increase as well as a charge for spectators and their vehicles.

As far as when Woodlands will reopen, your guess is as good as mine. After a meeting at the site today with the landowner I do not think it will be before September.

I have been running Woodlands for 12 years now and, to be honest, I am as frustrated and in the dark as you are. I will post the reopening date on the Woodlands website as and when they deem to tell me. In the meantime I will continue to concentrate on Challenge competitions.

Thanks Jed - interesting stuff. My only issue with the place was the encroachment of trees on the route. It was fine in the 110 I had as dents add character, but on my Range Rover it just means depreciation!!

Fingers crossed it re-opens and they cut back the trees a bit!
